About Philip Cook

I love solving problems. That could be guiding and directing teams to success in multi-faceted, complex projects; interpreting masses of data to produce a procurement strategy; analysing operational performance and identifying areas for improvement; developing repeatable methods for completing processes, reducing touch time; digging into the technical solution to develop the way forward; or even generating professional templates and models to enable consistent and compelling bid responses. No challenge is too great or less inspiring. Currently I’m an, Engineering Manager directly responsible for a team of 23, with an indirect team of ~40. I work with my teams and customers to ensure successful delivery, including the day to day management, future strategy development, opportunity appraisal, solution development and requirement adherence. I work cross-functionally, with oversight of all aspects of the program and have ultimate responsibility for its success.I strive for continuous self improvement and I’d be interested to mutually share knowledge with you. Whilst I’m a classically trained Aerospace Engineer through an apprenticeship scheme, acquiring a HNC along the way. My career choices have been specific to ensure I have a full understanding of the wider business; with stints in areas such as commercial and business development/winning too. I’ve further acquired a BSc Hons in Project Management (First) alongside other qualifications (i.e. APM PMQ). Having worked cross-functionally for several years and thanks to early customer facing careers, I have a deep understanding of all elements of a successful business and excellent rapport with customers. Further, I am adept to high pressure environments due to the positions I have held in commercial, bids and as a firefighter. At all times I remain cool, calm and collected, ensuring I am able to make informed, but difficult decisions, quickly.I’ve worked on projects and bids ranging from £5k to £150m, teaching me the importance of:- Stakeholder management - Accurate cost collection and estimation- The engineered solution- Quality- Safety- Company reputation- Continuous improvement- Time management- Requirements management- Commercial- Engineering- ManagementKey skills:Project Management | Bid Management | Engineering Management | Commercial Management | Scheduling | Problem Solving | Continuous Improvement | Data Analysis | Stakeholder Management | Communication | Decision Making | Risk Management | Engineering | Integrity and Honesty | Problem Solving | Requirements Management
