Operations Manager

Projects: APB: Reloaded (PC, Xbox One, PS4)Responsible for a diverse team of engineers spanning live operations, tools, build engineering and server-side development. This included ongoing mentoring and training of staff in different skillsets, with staff having come into their roles at varying levels of experience. In addition to the responsibilities of my own team, I also worked closely with production and management in the planning and development efforts for the game teams and helped supervise our QA efforts.During this time I was also involved in helping to kickstart the development of the console versions of APB, incorporating their unique client and server-side requirements into our existing development processes and helping to onboard the new external team.I was also instrumental in managing the conflicting priorities and interests of the monetisation and product teams with those of development, community and design, working closely with each team to understand everyone's needs and find acceptable compromises.

Release Engineer

Projects: APB: Reloaded (PC)As part of this role I gained complete responsibility for all aspects of branching and release management for a live game with a weekly patch cycle, regular game updates, and occasional hotfixes. This included working with QA and production to ensure that all components were present and accounted for, often providing release notes both for the end users and deployment instructions for our operations team.I was individually responsible for much of this time for maintaining and improving a number of APB's existing tools, including our existing NSIS-based installer, C# based launcher and crash processor, and further tools and scripts written in Python, including our Tkinter-based development game launcher and bespoke build automation framework. This responsibility was eventually passed on to a later Tools hire.Frequently worked across multiple departments in both production and technical roles to spec out new tools work and game features. For most of this time, I also worked on the frontlines of our relationships with our distribution partners for the Brazilian & Russian territories from both technical & production perspectives.Took over complete responsibility for all aspects of JIRA and Confluence administration, and later worked with producers on project management, making changes to each system as required by development. After our IT staff left, having worked closely with him for some time I further gained responsibility for maintaining and improving the local office infrastructure (Windows Server 2003 through 2012, Debian, VMware ESXi, Active Directory, Cisco ASA, 3Com switches, and other bespoke solutions including custom iptables firewalls) as well as all physical maintenance and upgrades of desktops and servers along with any new builds.
