In addition to the development of legal software solutions, the business also provided a fully managed IT service as part of its portfolio. My responsibility was for the delivery of all on premise IT equipment (Servers, PCs, Printers, Networking), as well as the full management of local network services, including break-fix, maintenance and outsourced services.

Specialising in the development of case & diary management solutions complemented by a range of fully outsourced managed IT services exclusive to the bar, the business quickly achieved phenomenal success and radically modernised IT services within chambers in England & Wales. Many of the systems that were deployed at the time are still in operation today. As Technical Director, I was responsible for the development of software tools, processes and procedures that enabled the migration of clients systems and data from the incumbent software provider in place at the time to the Meridian Law systems. Leading the Technical Services team, I was responsible for the implementation of all on premise IT systems, introducing a full range of managed services, which allowed chambers to outsource their entire IT requirements to Meridian.

The systems, developed in COBOL, and operating on a range of systems including Bull proprietary operating systems, UNIX systems, and latterly, Windows NT, modernised the IT services available to the transport industry. My role as Technical Manager was responsible for the build, deployment and ongoing support of hardware, server operating systems, networking services and communications.
