Functional Health Coach, combining classic coaching skills with a deep understanding of Functional Health and Ancestral lifestyle. In March ‘22, embarked on a rigorous and challenging 3.5 year training program to become a Functional Health Practitioner, studying remotely at the School of Applied Functional Medicine under the brilliant Tracy Harrison. Aiming to qualify in September 2025 but it could take longer. Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of chronic disease, engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. Shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine takes into account the uniqueness of each person and addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.This very carefully chosen new direction follows an understanding of the impact of diet, toxins, stress and lifestyle on health and vitality gained as a result of experiences with both my daughters who suffered debilitating conditions that were unsatisfactorily treated by allopathic medicine, and who found resolution of their conditions and long term relief under the care of a functional health practitioner.
