Lead Software DeveloperPayyo Oct 2016 - Aug 2018Bern Area, SwitzerlandPayyo is a payment partner for marketplaces and SaaS businesses. Our product combines payments processing, acquiring, sub-merchant accounting and payouts.The idea for this product originated within TrekkSoft. I helped bootstrap the platform as the main architect and lead developer, working together with a very small team of business experts. Afterwards I helped grow Payyo into the venture it is today while leading the small development team and mediating between product and development.Technologically, Payyo uses a modular monolith architecture ("modulith"). The goal was to have clear boundaries in the platform, without ending up with a micro services solution that wouldn't align and be manageable by our small team. Payyo is API-driven and all services and systems communicate through an HTTP JSON-RPC interface. For certain parts of the system event sourcing is utilized. A lot of thought went into identifying the proper vocabulary by talking to business experts.To achieve PCI Level 1 Service Provider compliance we implemented a highly scalable tokenization proxy service that allowed us to keep the main Payyo platform outside the cardholder data environment (CDE).
