Hi, I'm Phil – an educator, product manager, entrepreneur, and engineer. Currently Head of AI at Macquarie University.I've always had a passion for leveraging technology to enhance education and improve how we all experience learning. Throughout my career, I've worn many different hats, but one thing has remained consistent: my dedication to helping people leverage technology.Early on I led one of Germany's largest student clubs with about 2,500 student members and alumni. I took over and scaled their mentoring program by developing custom technology tools for the application and matching processes.After graduating, I joined the executive team of Practera, an edtech company developing AI-enabled technology for project-based learning in universities. I helped scale the business from servicing 60 students to 200,000 students across more than 80% of Australian universities. I also generated millions in revenue, secured a multimillion-dollar 10-year partnership adding $400k in ARR, and closed a VC funding round, all while managing a team of 14 talented individuals. Coaching and mentoring them to reach their full potential is what motivated me to bring my best qualities as a leader every single day. Seeing my team members develop their skills and achieve their goals brings me immense joy.I believe in creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to do their best work.Additionally, I had the privilege of teaching as a guest lecturer on teamwork and innovation at several of our client institutions, including USYD, UTS, UNSW, and Macquarie.Eventually, I moved to building PuddlePod and working with Brainmates, a management consultancy, where I provide strategic advice on AI opportunities.Here, I helped to build Australia's most comprehensive generative AI course for non-technical professionals and created a strategy that boosted productivity by 50% in instructional design workflows.My journey has been driven by a passion for leveraging technology to transform education and drive innovation. I am continuing my journey as Head of AI at Macquarie University, leading projects that make a meaningful impact and inspire the next generation of learners, staff and leaders.
