CurrentVice President for Legal Affairs (April 2022 - Present) Senior Counsel for Policy and Advocacy (July 2020 - March 2022)- Conduct legal and policy analysis related to parental choice, private education, religious liberties, nonprofits and employment law. - Serve as policy consultant to state educational networks. - Generally represent interest and viewpoint of faith-based education to policy makers and public at large. - Help direct and start state-level school advocacy efforts.In House Counsel (August 2015 - June 2020) - Operate as General Counsel with primary areas of practice in: employment law, contract law, licensing, trademark and copyright, nonprofit law, education law, and religious institutions. - Started the Association's first in-house legal department. - Instituted the Association's first contract management system. - Association currently operates 8 U.S. regional offices and 19 country/global offices with schools in over 100 countries. Assistant Director for Legal/Legislative Issues (July 2011 - March 2017)- Provide in-house legal services to the Association. Primary areas include: employment law, contract drafting/review, licensing, trademark and copyright, nonprofit law, education law. - Offer guidance to 2,500+ US member schools on legal, human resources and risk management concerns. - Associate editor of the Legal Legislative Update, a trade journal for legal matters in private education. - Track and monitor legislative efforts in all 50 states and on the federal level with an average review of 12,000 bills annually. - Work with outside legal counsel on Association issues.- Oversee the Association's educational research efforts and clearinghouse along with various related projects.
