About Philip Sharman

A skilled and professional executive/non-executive director (ED/NED) in the low-carbon energy sector with proven success in: developing, implementing and leading strategies; external fundraising; technology collaborations; and other methodologies needed to create and nurture successful businesses. Forty years of international experience at the interface of industry, academia and government, including for a global OEM, a UK plc, an SME start-up, three Russell Group universities and UK government.Established Evenlode Associates Ltd in 2011 as vehicle to undertake a portfolio of ED, NED, interim and advisory appointments and contract/consultancy assignments.Joined Alstom Power in 2008 and was Director of Technology External Affairs, reporting to Alstom’s Senior Vice-President of Technology from 2009 until 2011. Prior to joining Alstom, Philip had gained over 25 years experience in the low-carbon energy sector both in the private and public sector. For much of this time, he worked as a consultant to the UK government on various energy-related R&D and technology transfer programmes, including setting-up and managing both the UK’s Cleaner Coal Technology Programme (for 10 years) and the UK’s Advanced Fuel Cells R&D Programme. From 2001, he focused on technology transfer programmes, addressing low-carbon energy technologies with North America for the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and as an R&D Specialist for UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).
