For much of this time, he worked as a consultant to the UK government on various energy-related R&D and technology transfer programmes, including setting-up and managing both the UK’s Cleaner Coal Technology Programme (for 10 years) and the UK’s Advanced Fuel Cells R&D Programme. From 2001, he focused on technology transfer programmes, addressing low-carbon energy technologies with North America for the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and as an R&D Specialist for UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). Philip has considerable international consulting and technology transfer experience in North America, Central & Eastern Europe, China, Japan and South Africa.Specialties: Low-carbon energy technologies (clean coal, CCS, renewables, fuel cells, hydrogen energy, energy storage, nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, energy efficiency); R&D project/programme management; fundraising for R&D; governance of R&D organisations.
