CurrentAffirmed Networks joined Microsoft’s Azure For Operators Mobile Packet Core group in November 2020. This group focuses on creating 5G core router products called Unity Cloud, designed to run on Azure Operator Nexus — a carrier-grade hybrid cloud platform. Notable achievements include:1. Increased Capacity: Unity Cloud’s capacity grew significantly from serving 300k users to over 1 million users, all while maintaining the same hardware footprint (576 vCPUs).2. Enhanced Throughput: The throughput capacity also improved significantly, going from 65 Gbps to 120 Gbps using the same hardware (360 vCPUs).3. Workload and Capacity Planning: Designed methodologies to estimate and predict workload and built sizing model for capacity planning for our tier-1 customers including AT&T and Vodafone. The sizing model was widely used by our sales team for the RFP process as well.4. AI & ML Integration: Led a team of software developers in integrating AI and ML capabilities into our in-house Continuous Testing framework. These innovations resulted in several patents filed with the USPTO. Examples include: • Auto-triage of ICM and ADO tickets using machine learning and classification. • Duplicate ticket detection leveraging Azure AI Search. • Jaeger trace for root cause analysis using a 3GPP-trained GPT model. • Core dump analysis using GPT. • Anomaly detection based on field PM stats.5. Continuous Improvement on data engineering methodology to increase efficiency in field data analysis and feedback to software development for further optimization.6. Performance Analysis Tools: Developed various performance analysis data products using tools like Power BI, Excel, Python Jupyter Notebook, ADX, and Kusto.
