Phillip A. Johnson & Associates LLC leverages decades of campus experience to help clients address safety, security and emergency/crisis management. We collaborate with clients to make improvements in campus safety--addressing organizational structures and staffing, resilience, leveraging technology and efficiency, continuity of operations and reputation management. The managing partner, Phillip Johnson and his associates are highly successful campus public safety leaders and industry colleagues who served at preeminent IHEs. Our work as consultants is almost exclusively with educational institutions –collaborating with clients to solve problems. Until recently, our primary roles for the past several decades has been as practitioners who also consult. Accordingly, we have experience addressing the concerns of clients in our own work as well as often helping others navigate the complexity of higher education safety and crisis leadership. Our projects have included small liberal arts institutions as well as highly selective, public and private, residential, nationally recognized IHEs. We are skilled in assisting institutional leaders to effectively plan for and handle campus crises including international programs. We bring depth of understanding of the unique aspects of higher education to our work.

Phillip Johnson served as senior director of campus safety and emergency management at the University of Notre Dame. Until July 2016 he served as chief police and director of emergency management at the University of Notre Dame and is a past president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). He was appointed chief in March 2007 and director of emergency management in September 2013. Johnson joined the department in 1986.
