Phil Webber is a senior counsel in Bull Housser's Tax Group. His practice focuses primarily on income tax matters and carrying out all the related corporate, commercial, trust, estate planning and personal transactions in a tax effective manner. Phil assists clients with: · structuring all manner of business relationships, including formation of resident and non-Canadian resident corporations and trusts, the formation of partnerships and joint ventures or other co- ownership arrangements, and the winding-up or dissolution of those relationships; · moving to or investing in Canada, or leaving Canada to live and study or work abroad, including acquiring and disposing of Canadian real estate, businesses and other property; · expanding Canadian business into other countries;· financing businesses and assets wherever situate;· passing on and administering wealth, including succession planning in relation to the family and other closely held businesses, recreational property and other assets; · estate planning generally whether for Canadian families or for the international family with a branch in more than one country, including Canada; and · complying with or becoming Canadian tax compliant, particularly with regard to non-Canadian (offshore) assets, and including advising on applications under the Voluntary Disclosures Program of the Canada Revenue Agency. Phil also handles the reorganization of corporate businesses, including reorganizations of capital and the split-up, spinning-off or winding-up of corporations or their businesses.
