My Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, my minor in Art History, and minor in Crafts from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania make me well equipped for teaching art in any setting. My experiences student teaching at Northwest Elementary School in Reading and at Northampton Area Middle School in combination with my work experience as a YMCA Art Specialist have prepared me to be an active educator in the field of visual arts. Additionally, my passion and enthusiasm for art in my personal life transfers over into my teaching style.Through my experiences at Kutztown University and student teaching, I have developed familiarity with a vast range of artistic mediums including ceramics, painting, crafts, photography, weaving, jewelry making, digital art, metal work and drawing. I consider myself an artist, as well as an educator. In my undergraduate career I have shown work in juried exhibitions as well as two solo exhibitions. My passion for creating art is conveyed in my classes as I aim to instill inspiration in the hearts and minds of my students. As an art educator, I feel confident in my ability to teach many different artistic techniques in a way that is exciting and accessible to all students.In addition to my artistic abilities I am also an innovator and advocate for interdisciplinary connections between the arts and sciences. This summer I will be working as a STEM instructor for Sylvan Learning. By combining science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, I am able to create engaging, hands-on and child-centered lessons that prepare my students with critical inquiry and creative problem solving skills necessary for success in life.
