I have hospital experience as a Pathmaker Intern at Palomar Medical Center, and as a clinical research associate at UC San Diego Health. At Palomar Medical Center, I took vitals, performed passive range of motion and incentive spirometer exercises, administered oral care, provided catheter care and bed baths, fed and repositioned patients. I have served in the Emergency Department, Orthopedic Acute Care, Pulmonary Progressive Care, Neurological Progressive Care and the Cardiovascular ICU. As a research associate at UC San Diego Health, I contribute to a manuscript and assist in data collection for a project examining the necessity of urinalysis. I also work on projects investigating the effectiveness of palliative care administration, origins of chest and abdominal pain in patients, the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in chest xray readings, and patients' knowledge of the health effects of HIV, e-cigarettes and marijuana.I also have a research background in cellular biology and genomics. In cellular biology, I compared the unfolded protein ER stress response in various wine yeast strains. I learned to perform PCR, inoculations, make recombinant DNA, perform gene knockouts, transform recombinant DNA, extract and purify DNA, and induce ER stress in yeast cells. As a research assistant in genomic research, I examined protein-protein interactions through pull-down assays. I also learned to express and purify protein and DNA, make protein tags, make and run SDS-PAGE and gel electrophoresis, cultivate bacteria, perform induction, use Western Blotting techniques, and conduct dialysis.I have leadership experience through founding and being president of an English Club for Chinese-speaking students in Taiwan. I recruited volunteers to teach English at underprivileged schools in Taiwan, arranged meetings between the students and planned activities to help develop the Chinese-speaking students' vocabulary. I was additionally a student lead at a campus dining hall, where I lead workers in completing tasks to run the restaurant and serve customers, as well as suggest and implement areas for quality improvement.Additionally, I am BLS certified, am EMT Licensed in San Diego County, and am familiar with Epic EHR, Microsoft Office, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and experiment design. I am also fluent in Mandarin/Chinese and English.
