I am a documentary and fine art photographer with an interest in architecture, history and urban themes. IT'S BEEN RELEASED: My newly-published book, "BROOKLYN ON THE BRINK: Winds of Change in the Eighties." This is my Brooklyn story in vintage black & white film photography -- a time of great change in America's favorite borough, as "old Brooklyn" began to transform into one of the most dynamic urban scenes in the world.I also create framed wall decor photography of architectural and urban landscape subjects, which have been exhibited at the Long Island Photo Gallery and can be seen online at photomike.com and https://photoartpavilion.com/artist/mike-stein/?category=all. As an assignment photographer, my work has included event coverage and editorial subjects for clients in media and communications, including Crain's business media, Roche Labs, the NYC Partnership, the Village Voice, IBM and the United Way. I also collect and deal art books, photography books and other ephemera. As a newspaper staff photographer, I shot 25,000 frames of Brooklyn neighborhood life in the 1980s for a local newspaper, the Prospect Press. It's a time capsule of the era that chronicles one of the first great waves of urban gentrification. This body of work, "Images from the Prospect Press," has been exhibited at several New York area venues, including the Henry Street Settlement, Soho Photo Gallery and the Brooklyn Public Library Central branch at Grand Army Plaza.On another note, I am a private ground transportation provider and professional driver, highly experienced at maneuvering around the challenging New York metropolitan area driving environment. Navigation and logistics are my thing. I offer a range of luxury services, including custom tours, trips to all airports, corporate functions, business meetings and location scouting.
