The cornerstones of effective marketing research, these skills also drive success in other contexts: writing compelling case studies and white papers, and creating competitive grant requests and business proposals.I work with organizations of all sizes providing primary and secondary research to support marketing, communications and strategic planning initiatives. I typically work with the CEO and/or the marketing team and in the case of non-profits, the development team and/or board of directors. I take qualitative and quantitative projects from design to final presentation, and provide consulting services to support and coach clients undertaking research on their own. I also accept ad hoc assignments to write or edit reports, proposals, grant requests, white papers, etc. Over 20 years in marketing research honed my technical skills. Experience in cultural resource management, including several years documenting oral history among Native elders throughout rural Alaska, provided an equally valuable lesson: to hear what is not being spoken aloud and understand that it’s also part of the story.I’ve conducted hundreds of focus groups, interviews and surveys among consumers, B2B communities, physicians and patients, employees and members, alumni and donors, trustees and directors, family pairs (parent-child, couples), children, teens and ‘tweens, and seniors.
