Current• Responsible for acting as a facilitator of learning, introducing topics to provoke thinking, and questioning in order for students to learn collaboratively while using critical thinking skills • Create a classroom environment where students play a vital role in helping to design the curriculum, formulate the questions, seek out (and create) answers, think through possibilities, and evaluate how successful they have been• Incorporating and utilizing the philosophies of Piaget, Vygotsky, Dewey, Gardner and Reggio Emilia in order to expand a child’s world by offering developmentally-appropriate content that is challenging, yet supported• Responsible for creating thematic lesson plans to tie into the schools progressive philosophy which encourages actively engaging students in the learning process so that they absorb knowledge from the world around them while immersing the students in literacy, math, science, social studies, art, music and movement• Create math lessons using Everyday Math for preschool and assess student understanding of concepts through the use of hands-on activities. Differentiate instruction in order to address the needs of all students.• Assess students’ phonological awareness through the use of literacy activities.• Utilize ongoing assessment methods, such as anecdotal records, work samples, and photographs to gauge children’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth• Responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans for enrichment classes which immerse children in the study of countries through the use of art, literature, cooking, music and movement• Responsible for classroom and behavior management of all students• Collaborate with director and other teachers to create daily lessons
