Expertise: Analytical Surface Science, Microbiology/Bacteriology, Biochemistry, and MicrofluidicsI am an experienced analytical and bioanalytical chemist who specializes in thin-film surface chemistry, microfluidics, and bacterial microbiology. I am interested in working with point-of-care diagnostics and environmental sensing technologies, especially those that speed up and simplify traditional microbial, chemical, or biochemical assays. In each of these areas, manipulation at the microscale can provide a distinct advantage over traditional methods in terms of dramatically reduced sample volumes, increased speed, and lower cost. My graduate and postdoctoral training intersect with the theme of “manipulation at the microscale” and includes the development of a next-generation sequencing technology and self-loading microfluidic devices.
