Hello, my name is Pierce Smith. I am a registered nurse practicing in inpatient psychiatry at Community Behavioral Health Center in Fresno, CA. I began my nursing career in the medical intensive care unit, where I gained valuable experience in the care of critically ill patients. This career experience helped me refine my nursing and critical thinking skills, and provided a familiarity with many complex conditions and their associated treatments. Since 2020, I have worked in inpatient psychiatry, which I enjoy immensely. My current role has given me great experience in caring and advocating for patients with various mental health conditions, including patients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. This role has also given me great experience in interprofesional coordination and care across the continuum for patients experiencing acute and chronic mental health conditions.I believe that healthcare, specifically mental health care, is my calling. I am passionate about and enjoy caring for patients with all varieties of mental health conditions. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018, and am now pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from The Ohio State University and expect to receive licensure in 2025 and finish the degree in 2026. My goal is to provide compassionate, effective, evidence-based care as a future psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and to contribute to evidence based practice and educate future healthcare professionals and practitioners.
