CurrentRecruited internationally in 2020 to overhaul the Bureau’s climate and weather forecasting services, bolstering its national reach. Drove a cultural shift, with focus on customer impact and engagement, while also incorporating stronger risk management capabilities. Reporting to the CEO, the function, with a budget of $55 million, includes a team of 400 and provides weather and climate hazard services, with 24/7 support, to the Australian government, community, and emergency agencies.Supervises the yearly delivery of about 25000 warnings and alerts on various weather/tsunami hazard; over 10000 briefings to Emergency Management Agencies and Ministerial Offices; hundreds of public press conferences related to weather hazards.Oversees the production of internationally recognized climate statements and reports.As a member of the board, and main sponsor, actively contributes to the design and operations of high performing computing capabilities, observation networks, data analytics and machine learning applications.Contributed to establish the Australian Climate Service, a multi-agency organization that provides improved data, intelligence and expert advice on climate risks and impacts.
