I was in charge of IT at three branches, two in East London and one in Queenstown with the responsibility to work on my own without supervision. I was employed to upgrade the old computer system to a new network integrated system that is able sending figures directly to Head Office and accounting system (SAP). I was taught to install the system by going to Cape Town, working with one of the technicians and getting a branch up and running with the new system. I helped out in Port Elizabeth to convert 2 branches to the new system. I was left on my own to install the system in Queenstown and East London. I also tought the new software system to new employees and show existing employees how to operate it. I also work a lot with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Microsoft Word and Excel. I did network troubleshooting and maintain network devices like routers, switches and firewalls. I also did computer troubleshooting and repairs hardware and software. Buying computer parts and printers was one of the big parts of my work.Additionally I assisted where I could or where assistance was needed. I knew the computer system we work on very well and therefore can fill in wherever is needed if someone is absent.
