I am the supply operator for the supply team covering the African region. The main aspecs of the role is to coordinate with suppliers which is mostly Trafigura to ensure that our fuels supply remains constant to keep the distribution network wet. This requires maintaining good relationships with suppliers, port agents, terminals, government entities as well as customers and other market participants. I would like to think that I have a unique skills set which includes terminal operations knowledge, marine logistics experience, trading & negotiation skills as well as people management.

Responsibilities:Shipping- Liaise with all customers in SA & East Africa to coordinate customer requirements.- Liaise closely with our in-house planning dpt. to carefully plan & coordinate the shipping program around the various constraints in order to fulfill customer demand. - Work closely with brokers & ship owners in order to find & charter the most suitable vessel at the most competitive rate and terms.- Maintaining close relations with suppliers to ensure that their logistics are aligned with our shipping program. - Ensuring that shipments are executed smoothly by monitoring post fixture operations. - Demurrage analysis.- Negotiating the best settlement of any claims between owners and charterers. - Drawing up monthly management reports to keep the board advised of the current status of shipping matters. Local and International Trade- Negotiate prices and setting contracts with local and international customers. - Ensuring the correct INCOTERMS are used. - Maintain customer and supplier relationships both locally and internationally and resolve conflict in the best possible manner.- Key account manager for a global leader in FMCG manufacturing. - Work closely with treasury to manage forex exposure. - Drawing up monthly management reports keeping the board advised of monthly volumes moved and relevant storage costs and recoveries. - Stock monitoring and planning forward shipments to ensure sufficient stock levels for Wilmar oils and Fats Africa as well as other large customers. - Managing storage costs by ensuring the optimal number of tanks are kept to keep storage costs as low as possible. - Managing a team of people to ensure contract execution and certain logistics activities are performed properly and timeously.

This established niche-company specialized in fixing (chartering) bulk tanker vessels for shipping various grades of, specifically, vegetable oils and fats. Devonia’s clients included some of South- & East Africa's largest vegetable oil traders. Summary of Responsibilities:-Responsibilities:- Liaise with customers to establish cargo requirements and timeline;- Negotiating and fixing of vessels and post fixture operations;- Liaise with ship owners to ensure that the cargoes are correctly stowed and handledaccording to FOSFA rules;- Appoint and liaise with port agents to ensure turn-around times with minimal delays;- Calculating and mitigating demurrage risk and communicating same to client;- Analysing and assessing demurrage claims if and/or when they arise;- Contract vetting;- Negotiating settlement terms;- Formulating preliminary legal arguments with regards to contract terms and obligations
