I was the Project Engineering Manager for the Khi and Kaxu solar CSP projects where WorleyParsons perform the Owner's Engineer function for the client Abengoa, consulting engineer on the Kpone CCGT project in Ghana and involved in other renewable energy projects in the Department of Energy's IPP renewable programme in South Africa.I have more than 20 year experience in electrical engineering at power generation projects, started my career in the SA Navy during National Service and joined Eskom in 1990. I worked on new build power station projects at Matimba, Majuba, Iskenderun (Turkey), Grootvlei (refurbishment), Medupi, Kusile, Coal 3 and currently solar PV and CSP renewable projects.My technical knowledge includes power generating electrical plant such as large generators, generator protection, generator circuit breakers, low and medium voltage switchgear, generator phase isolated busbars, electrical machines, oil/dry type transformers, auxiliary electrical power system (reticulation), voltage depression proofing of plant, emergency AC and DC back-up systems including diesel generator sets, electrical fences, cabling and racking, lighting and earthing & lightning protection.
