As a self-taught developer, I realized the best way to learn was to build tools that I would actually like to use myself. My goal is to build as many things as possible and to limit the time spent on tutorials.In 5 steps, I learned and practiced:1. JavaScript (including React, Gatsby)2. Deployment (Netlify, Heroku, cPanel)Select projects I worked on:⚡️ Electrician Nîmes (see link below ⬇️): A portfolio website for an electrician based in Nîmes (France). It's a React app (using Gatbsy) with an API made using Python (Flask). The API fetches blog articles from a hosted MySQL database and handles contact form submissions. It is deployed on Netlify and the API is deployed via cPanel, both using GitHub.🔒 Advanced Sign-up & Login (see link below ⬇️): A complete and secure authentication process using Python (Flask). Credentials are stored (passwords are hashed and salted) in a hosted MySQL database. Includes 2-factor authentication using Python's PYOTP library to generate time-based passwords and a scannable QR Code (works with mobile apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy). Other features include email verification via secret token, password verification and password request via email.🏃🏼‍♂️ Fitness Year in Review (see link below ⬇️): A dashboard to track my fitness and running progress. All my workouts are added to Strava. Using their API, every workout is exported to a Google Sheet (using Python's Gspread library). This data is then manipulated (using Python Pandas) and displayed (using Python's Matplotlib) via a Streamlit application.✈️ Flights tracker (see link below ⬇️): Finding cheap flights to select destinations. Built with Python, checks a list of user-generated destinations and prices using Tequila by Kiwi and, when a flight is found, notifies via SMS using Twilio's API.
