My role as Solutions Engineer was to provide support to the sales team, helping them with the technical details and solutioning services tailor made for Tata Communications customers. Mainly I supported South America, Central America and Mexico for data and mobility services also providing when needed support to Canada, USA and Europe. I provided technical solutions on data services like IP Transit, MPLS, Ethernet, IPL (International Private Line) and security services for customers across the region also, was engaged on Cloud services, Unified Communications, Contact Center and Media opportunities. However, my main expertise and contribution to the team was on the mobility side. I have engaged with several MNOs providing solutions for Sigtran, Diameter, Data Roaming (GRX/IPX) as core services and new services in Tata Communications like MMX an A2P messaging service acting as a HUB for content providers and MNOs; DRB as unique service providing regional breakout for international roamers improving the quality of service for the customer’s MNO. Including MOVE a new platform that help MNOs and enterprise customers looking for IOT solutions and an enabling platform for MNOs, MVNEs and MVNOs in need to setup a network infrastructure and overcome their technical challenges.

After 7 months I was invited to be the leader of the project acting as Roaming Manager. My duties have changed drastically moving from technical side to the business side of the project. I was responsible to work directly with all the areas involving the roaming business as finance, IT, engineering and others to makes sure that the project was on track and more importantly if the revenue and costs of the international roaming were as forecasted. Also, I responsible to visit the customer regularly to maintain the good relationship and provide the feedback to MACH’s director regarding the project.

I started as Sr. Telecommunications Engineer consulting for a project in Angola for Movicel. My role was to be the key contact point for the customer to all technical aspects. I provided training, executed IREG tests and created technical procedures for the customer.

My challenge on JDSU was to manage a recently formed team to perform IREG tests and maintain the communication and relationship between the customer (Vivo Brazil) and JDSU. JDSU had a platform that allowed us to perform remote tests, the whole team was working at the same location under my supervision. While managing 8 team members, I’ve provided all the technical support and trained all the team members on the technical and business aspects about international roaming. I kept a weekly follow up with Vivo’s manager and a monthly reporting meeting with Vivo’s director. Within the period of the service we have achieved the target in numbers of international roaming agreements for Voice, GPRS, CAMEL and 3G all the three times. All of this was only possible due a strong team work following procedures that were created from scratch that help to guide the recently formed team to success in the results.

On TIM Brazil my responsibility was to be a 2nd level support for the international roaming issues for TIM Brazil customers and support the IREG test team in any issues that they may have on the tests and responsible to update and maintain the IR.21 document of TIM Brazil. I’ve trained new team members providing knowledge in Voice, GPRS, CAMEL, signaling, network nodes like MSC/VLR, HLR, SGSN, GGSN, DNS, STP also, on the variety of systems like traffic steering, roaming management system, roaming welcome message, troubleshooting tools and others.

Worked as field telecommunications technician providing services for the MNOs in Brazil. Traveling around Brazil to configure and integrate BSC and TCSM Nokia for Oi and TIM Brazil. Also provided consultant services for TIM Brazil initiating their international roaming tests. I’ve done IREG tests for Voice (GSM), GPRS and CAMEL working with MSC/VLR and Intelligent Network of Ericsson, SGSN and GGSN Nokia. Supporting TIM Brazil with all technical activities since fulfilling the IR24, IR35 and CAMEL test books and contacting the roaming partners for troubleshooting and tests. Reporting weekly to the headquarter team with the results of the tests. Also, I’ve trained new members on the team and created procedures for easy understanding of the IREG test process. TIM Brazil’s target was aggressive, but the team managed to meet the goals for the roaming agreements.

As trainee the program was to go through the technical areas within Alcatel while providing consultant services to former Brazil Telecom (Oi Brazil). I had the opportunity to work on several departments from the operation and maintenance to recently created team to implement the GSM network. On the operations and maintenance center (OMC) for GSM and GPRS services I monitored alarms BTS, BSC and TCSM, ABIS transfer, creation of RSL, VSWR measurement, activation and inhibition of radios, combiners, fonts, out-c and others. On the operation and maintenance of the land line switches of Brasil Telecom I had configured and solved issues in switches from various vendors such as EWSD, Tropico R, Tropico RA, Zetax, SPX and System12. My last department was on the DCN network supporting the technicians in the field for cisco routers and providing O&M support for Santa Catarina state, conducting survey of the entire network structure.
