During this 10 week placement I was required to complete a research project as part of my Master’s degree. The project investigated the influence of the guidance published by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) Medical Technologies Evaluation programme in the UK and markets in the EU5. Firstly, detailed research was carried out in order to compile a recipient list for the online survey which I developed. Data from the survey was then collected and analysed with the aim to spot trends in the data across the markets. The data was then presented in a report and presentation to the relevant members of the team at GfK. Alongside the research project I supported ongoing projects within the company such as research on current guidelines for the treatment of different diseases. This information was then presented using PowerPoint and presented to the project team. This experience outside my project gave me a greater understanding of the complexities of bringing a medical innovation into market.

Duties include serving customers, handling money and general house-keeping, I worked up to 24 hours a week in order to help support myself through my Master’s.
