With almost three years of experience as a National Policy Research Fellow at the American Heart Association (AHA), I am passionate about advancing the promotion of physical activity and lifestyle modification as a public health priority. I conduct and translate implementation science on the health and equity impacts of the AHA's advocacy work, and develop policy statements, model legislation, and other materials to support and position the AHA's efforts.My background in clinical exercise physiology, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and epidemiology of exercise and physical activity patterns informs my research interests and expertise. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles related to public health policy and on the cardiopulmonary responses and outcomes to exercise in patients with cardiovascular disease and chronic heart failure. I also have served as a resource and educator to graduate students and teaching assistants in the field of exercise physiology at Ohio University, where I was an assistant clinical professor for five years.
