Clinical translation and pre-clinical development of natural killer cell therapy for cancer immunotherapy.I am responsible for natural killer cell production and immunomonitoring in our phase I clinical trial involving intraperitoneal infusion of ex vivo generated allogneic natural killer cells in recurrent ovarian cancer patients:- Cleanroom production of ATMPs- Implementation of GMPz- Process validation- Design and implementation of SOPs- Design and implementation of quality control systems- Design and execution of immunomonitoring- Review and release batch records. Pre-clinical work has a strong focus on upscaling of natural killer cell production.

PhD studies at the department of Urology. Development of new medical devices for urogenital tissue engineering applications. Main focus on in vitro development and pre-clinical application of collagen based tissue scaffolds. During this multidisciplinary PhD project I have intensive collaborations with clinicians (urology), industry (EMCM B.V.) and translational and basic researchers/technicians (urology, biochemistry, central animal facility). In November 2009 I participated in a study tour to Japan. We visited 19 companies, hospitals and research groups related to the field of Clinical Technology and Biomedical Engineering in Japan. The aim of the tour was to investigate the similarities and differences between Japan and the Netherlands in the field of technology in health care.In preparation for the visit, I studied the differences between Japan and the Netherlands on micro, meso and macro levels.
