During the time of major plant expansion, I oversaw the hiring process of over 300 hourly and salaried employees. I work extensively with professional recruiters in hiring high level salaried employees. A key goal of this position was to maintain positive employee relations. A major responsibility was overseeing the employee involvement process that focused on continuous improvement in the manufacturing process and conditions of employment. This position required routine analysis of injuries, attendance trends, turnover, area wage/benefits trends, etc. and provide recommendations and countermeasures as required. After six years in the position, I had the privilege of moving into a newly created role of Training and Development Manager for eight manufacturing facilities including two in Mexico and Canada. In this new function I launched leadership development and Toyota manufacturing processes training (Just in time production techniques, problem solving, Kanban, 5-S) for managers and team leaders. During this time I was certified to teach Covey's Seven Habits of Effective People and What Matters Most (Time Management) courses. Finally, I assisted in developing new employee and product training in start plants in Mexico and Canada.

Manufacturer of original and after market automotive fuel pumps and systems. This facility employed over 350 employees. Responsible for all employee relations, hiring, employment recruiting, safety, risk management, wages/salary administration, benefits, retirement benefits (annuities and cash defined), labor relations, union negotiations, & grievance management, workers compensation, all government compliance relating to employment/safety/health/environmental, training, employee involvement teams, discipline, writing and maintaining policy/procedures, etc. This position required routine analysis of injuries, attendance trends, turnover, area wage/benefits trends, etc. and provide recommendations and countermeasures as required. Labor relations - UAW local, responsibilities included overseeing compliance with the labor agreement. Oversaw the grievance procedure process up to arbitration. Negotiated the labor agreement which included costing of labor and creating language for the labor agreement. During this time I successfully negotiated a four year agreement that included three lump sum bonuses during the life of the contract. This was all accomplished with the oversight from the corporate human resource group. During the time with Federal Mogul, employment grew significantly. I had the privilege of implementing a screening process for production employees. I work extensively with professional recruiters in hiring high level salaried employees. A final achievement was the successful launch of a journeyman apprenticeship program for skilled trades.

Manufacturer of industrial lift trucks. Human Resource generalist, training, and safety. Began employment as a Training and Safety Coordinator. Duties included developing and launching training programs to improve production efficiency. This included new hire training, job instruction manuals, and employee involvement programs. This position also required the oversight for all safety activity in the plant. Responsibilities included compliance with OSHA and Worker's Compensation. Developed a Safety Team that involve employee input and inspection of the plant's safety conditions. Implemented a safety incentive program that results in a 50% decrease in OSHA related injuries. After 18 months I was promoted to Humans Resource Manager. Assumed all HR duties. These similar duties have been defined in other later held positions.
