I’m a commercial-minded operations professional dedicated to impacting business success by driving process improvement. Although operations teams traditionally find themselves in the cost center category, I strive to consistently challenge the status quo and find ways to diminish expenses thus increasing profitability. My teams know I’m a straight-shooter that tells it like it is, but when new responsibilities are presented I find ways to meet company objectives. I don’t shy away from or push back against taking on the most difficult organizational challenges; rather I identify ways to achieve these goals while balancing against existing constraints. Finding opportunities to cross-collaborate has made me a versatile team-thinker becoming more valuable assisting other teams outside of the scope of my workstreams.Beginning my career with GE Capital and participating in the company’s Six Sigma program, I established a passion for evaluating and adapting processes to be more efficient. When I joined Morgan Stanley’s commodities business as an associate, I was part of a freshly formed collateral team with little procedure in place. Over the next few years, I worked to establish best practices and controls, while finding opportunities to be more cost effective. I was promoted to manager, where I utilized the same approach to lead an inventory reconciliation team. I joined HSBC to take on a newly sanctioned position as associate vice president of collateral optimization.My Six Sigma experience with GE Capital lead to a 50% reduction in turn-around time for new business applicants. Early on with Morgan Stanley, my team worked to create guidelines for collateral management reporting and escalation, as well as portfolio reconciliation and valuation disputes. I also identified counterparties with advantageous collateral terms and deployed less costly assets to improve the company’s funding costs. I went on to oversee the inventory reconciliation for billions in physical energy assets, also establishing this function as part of a standalone team. My experience in collateral cost improvement lead me to HSBC where I continued to successfully improve collateral funding costs and liquidity position by deploying collateral strategically.Working within collateral provides extensive connectivity / cross-collaboration with all departments involved in the trade-lifecycle.
