Work with the Senior Management Team of The Union to provide teams with strategic programme and policy advice with a focus on India and South Asia region. Work with Senior Directors of Policy, Communications, Programmes (lung health, tuberculosis, tobacco control, HIV/AIDS and NCD) to develop global and country-specific policy briefs. Work closely with Senior Directors and their teams to develop advocacy plans and find pegs and hooks for possible media stories. Identify external opportunities to advance public health agenda. These include global events organised by international organisations, inter-governmental panels, Government departments and agencies, civil society and media events. Actively monitor traditional and social media to identify possible new partners, audiences and advocacy opportunities; and pre-emptively prepare for any possible threats of rollback or opposition to the larger public health agenda. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to take initiative and lead teams to deliver results. Possess excellent advocacy skills, backed with the ability to research and draft policy notes for senior officials (both internal and external stakeholders). Ability to translate complex, technical information and make it accessible and engaging to a broader audience. Strong critical thinking skills. Self-directed, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. Strong project and time management skills and the ability to manage and deliver on multiple short and long-term assignments.

Managed a project to bring policy change on environmental health. This included campaigns on clean air, toxins in food and water, both of which revised India’s food and environmental standards. Our efforts inspired Nepal to revise and adopt new air pollution norms (2003). I was also invited to co-author the WHO's call to action on children's environment health (2002).
