Primary duties included researching recent legislation and taking direction from the mayor and city council in order to create text amendments for existing requirements in the South Jordan City municipal code. I wrote reports for a Moderate Income Housing Plan and Station Area Plans that are requirements for South Jordan according to HB462 (2022). I sat on the South Jordan Parks Master Plan steering committee. I was the CDBG coordinator for the program run in South Jordan as part of this position. I was the project manager for a rezone creating a 180 acre master planned community located in the southwest corner of the city.

In August 2015 I was assigned to the project implementation team for a new community development software program (CityView Suite by Harris). This program will be used to review and process applications and permits digitally. I have been tasked to establish workflows for reviewing planning applications, creating form letters, testing the system, and collaborating with other departments to enhance the efficiency of our project review processes. Since going live in November 2016, my role has been to act as the POC for the Planning Division to assist employees as they use the system. I have also received configuration training so that I can create and edit functions within the system. The CityView Managers Group meets weekly to discuss updates to the system and work through issues that arise while using the software.

In addition to my duties as a Planner I, I sit on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Committee that discusses the administration of federal funds received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

I oversee the funding received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). I coordinate actions with the City's Finance Department, members of the CDBG Committee, and public service providers to use the awarded grant funds for projects that assist low and moderate-income families and other vulnerable populations. I prepare reports that are presented biannually to the City Council and submitted to the regional HUD office for review.

South Jordan is one of the fastest growing cities in the region and encompasses the planned community of Daybreak. I assist developers, builders, and community members regarding the city's planning procedures. I have experience reviewing and writing staff reports for subdivisions, commercial site plans, rezones, land use amendments, zone text amendments, conditional use permits, and variance applications. I also review building permits for single family homes, accessory buildings, basements, pools, and signs.

The Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising walk and the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. In 2012, the Walk raised more than $50 million for research and patient services. My responsibilities in organizing this event include: managing the local chapter's website and social media accounts; serving on the logistics committee in charge of volunteers; working with vendors, retail partners, and fundraising teams; making presentations at meetings and kickoff events leading up to the walk; and sending out monthly newsletters to subscribers. Even after leaving LLS for a new job, I still assisted with organization efforts and oversaw the volunteers during the event.

I worked with the staff in implementing the "Neighborhood Snapshot" project that evaluates neighborhoods and looks for ways to improve areas and foster more community pride. Additional tasks include zoning ordinance research, approving building permits, and working with the planning staff to update the city's Park Master Plan.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

I assist in the safe transfer of freight between trailers by forklift. Freight can range from a few small boxes to large crates. My priority is to move the freight safely and efficiently, maintaining a minimum completion rate of 70% (freight unloaded from one trailer and loaded into the correct trailer rather than leaving it on the dock).

CTC is a family owned company that sells ceramic tile and natural stone, including slabs. During my time here (minus two years that I was serving a mission for my church) I progressed from being a warehouse worker to assisting customers with designs and layouts for their projects and managing the slab yard. I worked hard to develop quality relationships with contractors and builders so that the company could continue to be one of the leading tile supply stores in the area.
