Profile bio

About Paula L.

I am an interdisciplinary horticulturalist, researcher, and aspiring arborist. For my master's thesis, I researched methods to break seed dormancy for native Tamulipan forest to increase their cultivation for habitat restorations. Prior to shifting my focus to agriculture and environmental sustainability, I worked with the USDA with the Cotton Germplasm Research Unit under a research geneticist aiming to increase cotton drought performance. Currently, I am an educator at Brave high school and a co sponsor to the Brave Science club. In my first year, our club implemented the first school vegetable garden and raised over $300 for a pollinator garden.
