Responsible for assisting the Vice Provost for Research in the administration of all aspects of research at the Medical School including the effective administration of the Medical School's sponsored projects portfolio. As member of the Vice Provost’s leadership team, works directly with the VPR and UMMS administration to manage initiatives and issues that impact the research portfolio of the institution. Handles various complex and time sensitive issues that cross public, organizational and academic dimensions including enhancement of information systems to support financial, regulatory, and funding agency requests for data.

Institutional responsibility for deployment of system-to-system software and training for electronic grant submissions. Stewardship of grant award process and transfer process for new faculty; coordination and dissemination of policies and guidelines relating to federally sponsored funding; coordination of investigator adherence to institutional policies regarding research and faculty activities including IRB, IACUC, COI, OTM (technology management) and export control; assist investigators in negotiation of clinical study and research agreements; supervision of 10 staff members.
