General Manager
Vertex is an Advertising and Response Management company. The team consisted of 14 employees: 5 Sales Consultants, an Advertising Designer and 7 Delivery team members Vertex consulted and placed advertisements in various media on our client’s behalf and handled the response accordingly. We fulfilled the full recruitment function and shortlisted the top candidates for our client and then walked the candidate and client through the process to placement stage.Vertex used only print media to advertise their client’s positions however found that the response was not sufficient and neither was the quality of the candidates responding. It was my responsibility to change the business around and implement new strategies in order to make the product offering more relevant to the changing needs of the clients and attract top talent. Steps taken:- Implemented a new go-to-market product offering that moved the business from losing revenue to generating a profit.-Restructured the staff compliment (sales and operations) of the business to be more streamlined and fit in with the new online product.-Created new sales training manuals together with the Trainer as well as included the sales team in the creation of the new material.-Updated the Operational delivery model to ensure that the new process was working efficiently and in doing so managed to reduce the number of days the team took to screen response.-Put new reports in place for the clients as well as management reporting so that the company could better understand hit rates/ratios and success rates-Rebranded the company’s image, new logo, new website and new client sales documentation and Client Handover packs. In order to ensure that the company was a success it was also important to:-Dramatically reduce costs and eliminate waste of the company’s resources and this was done by closely managing every aspect of the day to day operations.About Vertex www.vertexsa.com
Business Manager - Ibm Key Account
In May 2008, I was offered the opportunity to take over as the Manpower Business Manager for the IBM account. This small team consisted of a Specialist IT recruiter, SAP Recruiter & an Administrator at that time.At this time IBM had just won the MTN contract for the outsourcing of their complete IT infrastructure. Manpower were given the opportunity to act as the Managed Vendor/Consolidation Agency for the IT Contractors. We took over approximately 35 Contractors from 18 different Agencies. The team managed to consolidate over 90 contractors on just that one account. In Mid 2009, IBM won a contract at COJ and we consolided the resources. (approx 50). When I left the total headcount was over 210 contractors. My team exceeded every Revenue, GP and profit target set. Some of the challenges that were overcome:-Due to this being a new business unit for Manpower SA (only started up in January 2008) there was a lack of process and hardly any operational procedures were implemented in so far as Payroll, DSO and contract management. -I implemented a structure for payroll and contract management with each staff member playing their role and deadlines being met on a monthly basis. -Our Debtors days had large amounts outstanding over 120 days, this was successfully reduced to consistently between 30-32 daysAchievements during this time:-Earned every Quarterly Incentive bonus for the balance of 2008 and 2009 for exceeding targets on Revenue, GP and OUP. (valued at one and half month’s salary)-Won the Manpower SA seat to the President’s Club weekend in Spain for EMEA for 2008. This is an award given to the Top achiever in every country and consists of an all expenses paid trip with 5 star treatment, a truly top class prize.-Manpower SA POWER award for 2008 for most improved GP % growth from 2007 to 2008.-Revenue budget for 2009 was R112 million, achieved R137 million, 22% over budget. Overall profit was 32% over budget due to tight cost control of expenses.
Business Manager - Key Accounts
Key Accounts Business Manager I joined Manpower in November 2007 to stand in for the Key Accounts Business Manager as she was going on maternity leave. The team consisted of five staff. Three Key Accounts Managers, one Administrator and one Recruiter. The role required that the team achieve our agreed Gross profit targets and account profitability, by developing new business, through the fulfillment of orders, and the effective management of the team. I reported directly to the Managing Director, Jan Coetzee.Responsibilities:-Developing new business-Quality Assurance and retaining existing business-Staff management and development-Financial ManagementAchievements during this time:-Earned a Quarterly Incentive bonus for Quarter one, for exceeding targets on Revenue, GP and OUP. (valued at one and half month’s salary)-Planned and hosted a Strategic Key Accounts Breakaway for the team to build team morale, get the team focused towards exceeding our goals and initiate “Sales Tough” training.-Implemented the Order fill rate report to ensure that the team get as close to possible to filling every single order. For temp orders - January 2008 the order fill rate was 54%, in February it went up to 78% and in March it was 94%. This was achieved because of my constant monitoring of the orders, offering my assistance to help consultants with training to fill positions and by putting small incentives in place to reward performance.
