Joining Damian Mogavero 1yr before the formal founding of Avero in 1998 and working with the team at Avero through the firms several successful rounds of venture financing and through the v2.0 launch of Avero's Slingshot system responsibilities included: designing and developing the companies product lines, product requirements & coordinating product launches with the CEO & CTO; identification for new office space, design and build-out of office space; technology & product development recruiting; market segmentation analysis; and conducting staff member performance reviews with CTO and CEO. In 2001, after 9/11 and a necessary downsizing from 70+ to <20, Avero shifted from a B2B supplier based order processing system to a B2C web based software solution creating the opportunity to launch iGNITIATE.

At the Xerox PARC Labs the the focus was detailed product design for MobileDoc - a P2P and Internet based system for beta level smart phones, two-way pagers and some of the worlds first personal Digital Assistant devices. MobileDoc was a fully integrated DropBox platform with PayPal functionality in 1998, a full 8yrs before DropBox ( or any such firm ) was launched. Efforts included product design, functional design, contracting with outside market research firms for focus groups in NYC, San Francisco, Chicago and London took place. Version 0.5 & 1.0 product lines were launched with the Cambridge UK research and development team and primary B2B OEM manufactures. Later MobileDoc was moved from the Xerox PARC Labs to the PARC Venture Labs and then onto to a full operating division in Xerox, and a transition to Avero Inc., a NYC pre-stage start-up took place.

Again, this was a 1st member assignment to a new 10 person team at CertCo / Banker Trust ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certco_%28financial_services%29 ) launching Acquire - an internet based micropayment system with the capability to support <1 cent transactions and electronic bill delivery 3yrs before PayPal's efforts. I came to join the founder, Peter Freund to lead designers & internal developers to produce beta systems and to contract with strategic partners for product integration of the Acquire system with firms such as Ebay, the New York Time and many others. Acquire and CertCo were later rolled back into BT and was the basis for PayPal before PayPal existed anf for which CertCo won a 13m patent infringement lawsuit against PayPal based on R&D from my teams efforts. Micropayment and digital payment technologies developed at CertCo / BT were then applied to mobile platforms in the R&D and pre-launch stage at the Xerox PARC labs in Palo Alto; Cambridge, England; Sophia Antipolis, France and Fuji Xerox Japan.

Again, it was a 1st in opportunity, this time as the lead member of a digital payments based research and development project at The American Management Systems AMSCAT Labs ( http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Management_Systems ) resulting in a digital micropayment system concept & system architecture, patent application & client trial implementations with specific international AMS business units and external telecommunication and banking clients 5yrs before PayPal began. An extra benefit was the submission for publication of Utilizing Multimedia Systems - An Emerging Technology for Today. (c) 1994 paper as a mechanism to apply micropayment systems to multimedia systems of the then emerging internet. At the end the project was rolled into several international telecommunications business units projects launched in Germany which led to applied research on a digital payment & certificate technology system for Bankers Trust.

1st of 5 people in a new business unit of of American Management Systems ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Management_Systems ) and THE LINK team - the first statewide integrated child welfare system in the US. Working directly with Connecticut Department of Children and Family directors to create strategic direction, complex user requirements issues were solved with the head of child welfare services for Connecticut and 10 regional offices. As functional leader the assignment was to design & launch several modules including: adoption, family assessment, and foster care as well as being the lead technical developer and product tester through the general and detailed design phases of the project. Currently that system is in place in 40+ states in the US and was the largest revenue producing business unit at AMS for more than 10 years.
