Dove deep into medical device design topics including Additive Manufacturing, Adhesives, Biocompatibility, Contamination and Sterilization, Design for Manufacture, Licensing, Microfluidics, Packaging, Sensing Technologies, Software As A Medical Device, Sourcing of Components, User Experience Design, and more. Designed, expressed, purified, and characterized bacteriorhodopsin mutants to demonstrate that the structure of modern rhodopsins and bacteriorhodopsins need not have evolved through convergent evolution. Developed novel algorithms to enhance the Theseus molecular superposition program with the ability to efficiently calculate and optimize a structural alignment from a superposition. Created a web portal using PHP, HTML, and JavaScript to allow anybody with internet access to create and optimize a multiple protein structure superposition and alignment.

Developed the idea of analyzing the frequencies and distributions of short oligonucleotide sequences in fully-sequenced genomes. Wrote the compute engine software, and created a web site that provides a User Interface, and retrieves the results of user queries from the compute engine. The system was implemented using HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and C.
