Working as a doctor in the Foundation Program in the NHS has exposed me to diverse scenarios related to patient care, developing my interpersonal skills with people in society and within my peers. I have rotated in a range departments during the course of my Foundation Training in the UK. These have included in the departments of:- Pediatrics and Neonatal Medicine, where I have clerked and proposed management plans for neonatal and pediatric age groups who presented to the Pediatric and NICU emergency departments;- Emergency Medicine, including individually managing patients admitted to resuscitation in the ER;- Internal Medicine, specifically in working in my Cardiology department; where I got involved in both chronic cardiac condition management but also the acute care that occurs in Coronary Care Units in an in-patient hospital setting- Community Gerontology, where I managed patient's journeys and their comorbidities whilst in hospital in a community setting;- Obstetrics & Gynaecology, where I took initiative to clerk antepartum women and got involved in the surgeries both on the obstetric and gynaecology side- General Surgery, specifically in upper GI and lower GI cases, getting involved in the perioperative and postoperative care really honed my knowledge in surgical procedures and key clinical presentations

During my Medical School studies, I was actively involved in the Medical Education Society, where we provided instruction to junior peers on key topics such as public health knowledge, management of common medical emergencies in hospital settings, and other essential subjects for future healthcare professionals.

The impact a disease can really have on a population was reflected during the COVID-19 pandemic,in which millions of people were affected by this virus. I took the opportunity during this relentlesstime to work in my local vaccination program, wherein I vaccinated more than 800 people with thePfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines. My interest in public health was initiated for the first time in this program when I truly understood the need for people to be encouraged to be vaccinated. This ensured herd immunity in the population over time and reduced the risk of transmission of the infection, especially in high-risk groups with multiple comorbidities, as they were more likely to beaffected by the virus. We created posters and banners for our immunization program to highlight theimportance of these vaccines. This experience improved my teamwork and leadership skills, as I wasable to educate members of society to become immunized. As recognition of this vaccination programin its efficiency in administering vaccines, we were shortlisted for the UK National Prize-Winning HealthService Journal (HSJ) award in 2021.

I am eager to explore how professionals can effectively manage health and implement preventive measures to address infections from the outset.
