The Program Coordinator role is unlike any student services role I have experienced! Even as a manager with University of Phoenix, I did not have this type of exposure to course curriculum, faculty, electives planning, and Orientations. Working for ASU as an Online MBA Coordinator allows me to tap into and hone my public speaking skills as I am often speaking in front of groups of 75, 100, or 120 students. A focus of the role is student engagement. I organize and facilitate Online programming and networking events for students to enhance their professional development. For each milestone throughout the student's program, I organize and deliver adobe connect sessions to better communicate critical information making the online platform a bit more interactive. A big part of my job is planning each semester for our new student orientations while simultaneously preparing our students in their final semester for Graduation. Along with these big events my day to day might include registering students for courses, ensuring Blackboard sites are successfully ready to go for course start dates, communicating University policies and procedures to our students, assessing the student progress and communicating the appropriate academic status such as probation, discontinuation, or recommended for dismissal to our Deans. It is a role in which I am constantly challenged and great preparation for future roles.

As a Student Services Manager my responsibilities included developing and implementing sustainable student communication strategies in order to help students achieve their professional and educational goals. I was also focused on developing direct reports, motivating them to perform at high levels and in alignment with the University's mission and vision. As part of the Campus Shared Initiative team I worked with enrollment advisors and managers at mulitple locations across the country focused on the success of our students and employees. My job was to ensure an excellent student experience and coach my employees to work in accordance with the Department of Education's policies and procedures.

Handled the day to day operations of multiple locations. Areas of focus included front and back of the house operations, food cost controls, labor cost management, staff training, event management, collaboration with management on sales strategies, customer service, food quality, and opening and closing duties of multiple locations. Arcadia Farms had restaurants in multiple locations including the Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona Science Center, Heard Museum, Scottsdale, and had just started a bakery before I left in 2008. The different locations allowed me to quickly adapt to change and work with a variety of people and events demanding strong interpersonal skills.

As a Kitchen Manager my biggest focus was food quality and customer service. Other duties included food and material cost controls, deciding budgets and working within those budgets, and maintaining appropriate labor costs. During weekly meetings I was responsible for communicating sales and cost outcomes from the previous week and analyzing sales trends to determine the budget needs for the upcoming week. As a kitchen manager, it was important for me to be up to date on the requirements of the health department and successfully pass unannounced health inspections.
