Soon after earning his bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Wyoming, he and his wife sought adventure in Alaska. His passion for yielding fruits from land and labor guided him to ownership of a wilderness lodge and commercial fisheries on Kodiak Island. He then built a successful real estate business, receiving the distinction of being the highest grossing single agent office in Alaska with over sixty transactions annually. Charlie was later recruited to be Vice President of Lands for Koniag, Inc., an Alaska regional native corporation with gross sales of $180M annually and owners of 300,000 surface and 800,000 subsurface acres. He was instrumental in 120 mmbf in timber sales; $56M in conservation easements; large-scale armor stone quarry development; exploration of hard rock minerals, oil, and gas; and construction of the headquarters building and a remote Brown Bear Center.
