Peter grew up encircled by wild areas on a cattle ranch nestled in the mountains near Boulder, Colorado. Ranching and relationship with the land rest deep in his bones.Peter received his Bachelor’s degree in History at the University of Colorado in 2009. Driven by his love for outdoor spaces, he went on to receive his Master’s in Environmental Leadership at Naropa University. In 2018 Peter moved to Bozeman, MT with his wife Julia. There he has worked part time for his family business and other organizations throughout the Rocky Mountain West.Peter has hands-on expertise working with his family ranch throughout the last 2 decades. His family has operated over 50,000 acres of ranch and farm land in Colorado and Montana since the early 1990’s. Peter has a firm understanding of financial and agricultural opportunities within many layers of land management. He also has extensive work and educational experience in ecological agriculture, wildlife management, community building, project planning, and complex environmental problem-solving.Peter is Licensed in Montana and currently resides in Bozeman, MT. He and his wife Julia have two young children.

In my position at Caribou Companies, I manage and enhance sustainable agricultural practices for a land management company responsible for 50K+ acres of cow-calf cattle operations and over 2K head of cattle used. The company has 600+ acres of land in Boulder County, Colorado, and occupies about 50K acres of land in Big Horn and Powder River Counties, Montana, including 36K+ acres of well blocked deeded land. Some of my key achievements while in this role:✦ Consulted with critical groups on experiential work, including Natural Resources Conversation Services (NRCS), Boulder County, City of Boulder, Crow Reservation Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, Savory Institute, Endangered Species Coalition and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies.✦ Contributed to the improvement of the grasslands' management by developing relationships and working with local stakeholders in Boulder County.✦ Managed significant projects focused on implementing rotational grazing models for company ranches.✦ Developed and executed educational outreach for ranchers on sustainable agricultural concepts.✦ Advised neighboring ranches in Colorado and Montana on varying options to achieve desired outcomes on overall soil health with utilization methods focused on cattle grazing.✦ Conducted research and market analysis for investment opportunities, identified processors, and developed a branding strategy.✦✦ I was successful in increasing productivity, resulting from grazing planning and improving the ecosystem for herds. Additionally, I significantly contributed to the efforts that resulted in elevating cattle count from 1500 to 2500 cows due to oil and grass level expansions.

I launched an organic farm operations business, Caribou Farms, focused on managing the cultivation of vegetable production and business contracts with local restaurants and grocery stores. Key contributions:✦ Managed all daily operations, sales, financial, and marketing initiatives to accelerate the efforts of a start-up company.✦ Created the marketing and demand generation plans to develop brand awareness and engagement in the local community.✦ Leveraged modern sustainable methods to achieve a high yield of heirloom vegetables.✦✦ I also secured a 15-week agreement to deliver services for Community Supported Agriculture members. Additionally, I contributed to revolutionary efforts, conducting experimental research and understanding of various natural impediments to farm in Colorado.
