- Playing a key role in establishing offshore business for aircraft interiors in the area of seating systems design and simulation, material characterization for metals, plastics, elastomers, foams to be used in FEA simulation.- Simulation of aircraft seating system for emergency landing dynamic conditions (FAR – 25.562) using LS-Dyna for the combined load cases of Roll & Pitch nonlinear implicit static & 16g nonlinear explicit dynamic. Methods established to simulate nonlinear static simulation using LS-Dyna Implicit and switch over from Implicit static to explicit dynamic.- Build up methodology and macro to generate true stress strain curves for LS-Dyna usage using mechanical properties materials in MMPDS (Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization) and MIL-HDBK-5.

-> Instrumental in setting up Advanced Simulation of Landing Gear and grown the team from 4 team members to 30 team members.-> Technical contributions include supervision, guidance and follow up of projects in the following: - Advanced Finite Element Simulation of Aircraft Landing Gear of different Airbus / Boeing programs ( A350, A400M, A380, A330, A340, A320, B787, F100, BD100) - Certification of engine maintenance tools (hand calculation and finite element method) - Automotive Closures Non-linear Analysis and Engine Meshing activities.-> Advanced Simulation of Landing Gears: Validated landing Gear components under FAR 25 subpart C in compliance with the requirements of loads, factor of safety, strength and deformation & proof of structure. The beam models of landing gear were analysed with the loading at gear axles and at the retraction lugs. These loads are due to the landing impact and ground handling loads. The interface loads at bearings and joints were extracted for each of the landing gear components. Detailed Finite Element Analysis of these sub-assemblies was carried out for Limit/Ultimate & Fatigue Load conditions to predict the hot spots. Design Modification was suggested to reduce hot spot stress in the Landing Gear assemblies. -> Managed and executed FE analysis projects related to Automotive Body Structures and Closures.-> Structural analysis of automotive closures: Performed crashworthiness, structural strength, durability and NVH analysis for concept evaluation and design validation of automotive closures. Drop silo (crash) and intrusion analyses were carried to evaluate crashworthiness performance using Ls-Dyna. Slam (Impact) analysis and non-linear static analysis were carried out for durability performance using Ls-Dyna and Abaqus. Fatigue damage calculation was carried out for the high stress region due to slam load using nCode. Static and modal analyses were carried out for the structural strength and NVH performances using Nastran.-> FE modelling and analysis of BIW / Full Vehicle: Performed FE modelling of BIW for durability, crashworthiness and NVH requirements. Frontal crash and roof crush were carried out for crashworthiness performance using Ls-Dyna. Modal frequency analysis was carried out for NVH performance using Nastran.

Forward/Rearward Impact using 95th / 50th %ile dummies, luggage retention, seat belt assembly anchorages test, child restraint anchorages test, dynamic energy absorption analysis of head restraint analysis was carried to evaluate crashworthiness performances using Ls-Dyna. Seat back strength analysis and head restraint analysis were carried out for the structural strength performances using Nastran, Abaqus.-> Side impact simulation: Performed side impact and pole impact simulation of full vehicle model. The analyses were carried out for the design validation of side airbags and curtain head airbags with USSID/EUSID dummies as per FMVSS and European standards using Pamcrash.-> Pedestrian safety simulation: Performed pedestrian protection simulation for the design validation of headlight as per European AECA’s pedestrian protection procedure using the child head form impactor. The simulation was carried out using Ls-Dyna.-> Structural analysis of Truck Cabin: The static analyses of the Truck Cabin were carried out with different manoeuvring, bending and twisting load cases for durability performance using Nastran.-> Stress analysis of A380 fixed trailing edge: Stress analysis of fixed trailing edge of A380 wing were carried out for the compression load (instability analysis) and tension load (stress concentration analysis). The analyses were carried out to design and optimize the panels, stringers, and stiffeners for Fixed Trailing Edge with flight and ground load cases.

-> Dynamic analysis of helicopter: The FE model of helicopter consists of FE idealizations of fuselage, tail boom, horizontal stabilizer, vertical fin, end plate, main rotor etc. The most significant main rotor induced cabin vibrations would have the frequency 4 / rev. Modal analysis was carried out to review the mode shapes nearer to frequency 4 / rev. In order to reduce the cabin vibrations, the strain energy densities of structures are analyzed. The structures are stiffened in the F E model where the strain energy density distributions are high. Frequency response analysis was performed for the baseline and the modified F E models to determine the transmissibility over the frequency ranges. The FE analysis was carried out using Nastran.-> Static stiffness and frequency analysis of helicopter control system mechanisms: The upper and lower control system mechanisms of helicopter are idealized for the linkages and the bell cranks. The static stiffness was measured at the end of the control system mechanism by fixing other ends. Modal analysis was carried out to check the natural frequencies should be away from main rotor vibrational frequency 4 / rev. The FE analysis was carried out using Nastran.
