Prachi is a junior doctor from India with MSc. in Experimental Surgery from McGill University. She is a PostDoc Fellow in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. She has been working as a research collaborator with the Center for Global Surgery, MUHC, Canada, on implementing a hospital-based trauma registry in India to create a city-wide trauma database in an effort to decrease the gap in trauma care. She has worked with organizations like One. Surgery, Canadian Association for Global Health to amplify the voices of global health and global surgery through advocacy and research work. Dr. Patel is an immediate past chair of the Canadian Global Surgery Trainee's Alliance (CGSTA) and current Co-Chair of The Gender Equity Initiative in Global Surgery (GEIGS). She is an aspiring surgeon with a special interest in working towards healthcare strengthening in low-resource settings by bringing together clinical practice and research.
