    The Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) has received funding from the World Bank towards the cost of the Liberia Renewable Energy Access Project (LIRENAP) part of which involves the development of the Kaiha 2 small hydropower plant on the Kaiha River, Kolahun District, Lofa County, Liberia.The Project work including Design, supply & installation/construction of 2.5 MW (4 x 625 kW) low head hydropower plant operating under a net rated Head of 11.7 m comprising a dam/weir, intake structure, vertical lift fixed wheel gates, horizontal “S” type Kaplan hydro turbine, surface powerhouse, etc. The scope of design is comprises detailed engineering design activities as well as the supply and installation of turbines/ generators, transformers/switch room including Civil & electromechanical designs. My job scope and responsibilities included:1.Completed site surveying and prepared general layout plan for site.2.Managed geological investigation as per the contract specifications.3.Monitored and handled overall responsibility of project construction activities.4.Performed all quality control tests as per the BS, ASTM, ACI, IS standards related to construction activities.5.Prepared and issued shop drawings for construction site.6.Reviewed and communicated structural design related matters with design engineer and furnishing required information.7.Coordination in developing master schedule, weekly schedule and tracking the project progress using MS project software.8.Prepared progress report, BOQ, method statements, estimation and material requirement schedules.9.Coordination with consultant and client regarding the construction activities.10.Monitoring and supervising assigned tasks of all staff.11.Coordination with subcontractors involved with the project activities.12.Participated to weekly progress meetings, safety meeting and other online meeting with funding agency (world bank).

    The Mawanana MHPP unique mini hydropower project in Sri Lanka as the design was altered to mitigate the flood problem in the Neluwa and Mawanana areas by diverting the Gin Ganga (River) through the Intake Channel below its Water Level. The Submerged Intake Structure is built without a diversion structure across the river, where the river section at the diversion point is about 100m. A natural barrier at the diversion location is used as the diversion structure and the estimated maximum flood flow in a 100-year return period is about 2000 m3ls. My job scope and responsibilities included:1.Held overall responsibility for the project construction activities and monitoring progress as per the project schedule and reporting to the Project Manager and responsible for quality assurance as per the specifications issued by the Consulting Engineer, Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), Sri Lanka.2.Implementing the Site Safety and Security.
