Born in 1957, Mr Pradip Chakraborty did Food Technology and BioChemical Engineering from Jadavpur University. He had worked in The State Fisheries Development Corporation under Fisheries Department, Government of West Bengal as Superintendent ( Processing and Marketing) from 1982 to 1995. Duties included processing , quality control and marketing of fish and fisheries products. He was Production Manager in Andaman Fisheries Limited, a 100% export oriented fish processing unit from 1995 to 2004. He was Deputy Administrative Officer of the State Fisheries Development Corporation from 2004 to 2012. He was Director of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for three years from 2012 to 2015. He had attended a number of national and international seminar as invited speakers and visited USA, JAPAN and Indonesia. He had written a number of articles and Chapter in various science journals and books. He has translated Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 into Bengali language which has been published from Kolkata.He wrote chapter 14 of the book "Emerging technologies in food preservation, published by taylor and Francis grp London 2023.He wrote chapter 27 of the book " Functional food and nutraceutical regulation in the USA and the world, published by elsevier publications USA. India Food Processor Association awarded him President Special Award in 2013 for his outstanding contributions to food processing industries.He has been made Chairman of the 4th International Food and Nutrition conference at Singapore, September 2021
