A submariner trained in Germany, I commanded two of the Navy’s frontline submarines (SMs), a frigate and a guided missile destroyer and fired the Navy’s maiden BrahMos missile. At Naval Headquarters I headed the directorates SM operations and SM acquisitions and as a Rear Admiral, I was appointed as the “Class Authority” for SMs with doctrinal and training responsibilities.Post 26/11 Mumbai attack, I authored a new doctorine on coastal security, force structuring and joint responses by all stakeholders. As a Vice Admiral, I was appointed as ‘Inspector General of Nuclear Safety’, which involved planning and acquisition of strategic assets and interaction with the industry. As the Navy’s Deputy Chief, I was responsible for overseeing the Navy’s operations, intelligence, aviation and foreign cooperation at the apex level. I was a director on the board of M/S Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). Elevated to a Commander-in-Chief, of the only Tri Services Command, in A&N Islands stretching over 740 kms I gave impetus to infrastructure creation.Proud to be a recipient of ‘Nau Sena Medal (Gallantry)’,‘Ati Vishist Seva Medal’ and ‘Param Vishist Seva Medal’ and an honorary aide-de-camp to the President of India.I share my thoughts and experiences on national security and development at the Research Centre for East and North East Regional Studies in Kolkata (CENERS-K), and actively participate in domestic and international seminars.What I bring to the table are the golden nuggets of 40 years experience and my exposure in strategic planning, operations, technology, manpower development and big ticket project management involving acquisition of aircraft from M/S Boeing, M/S RAC MIG, M/S HAL and a particular strategic asset from abroad. I am also an advisor to a reputed Chambers of Commerce in Kolkata. Grooming and advising future leaders and budding enterprueners to achieve their objectives in the real world interests me so that ultimately they can contribute to nation building.
