Course Assistant for Computer Science Theory and the Introduction to Computer Science in Java (COMS 1004) Lab

A short-term externship working with Executive Director and Co-Founder of ELiTE Education. Responsible for creating and holding a workshop for 9th grade students to reflect on their past education experiences while coming up with ways to deal with mental health, stress relief and study tips.ELiTE is an education-focused nonprofit based in New York City. We are a young organization, composed of teachers, engineers, non-profit leaders, scientists, lawyers and entrepreneurs who came together five years ago to tackle the growing rift between science education and society, especially for students from lower income brackets. ELiTE seeks to empower low opportunity students from under-resourced backgrounds with engineering and science education to promote creative thinking and social responsibility. What began five years ago as a hands-on science summer camp in rural Ghana has since expanded to high school summer camps in Tanzania, Jamaica and Mexico, and year round student activities in Ghana and Harlem, NYC.
