I hold a PhD in Operation and Maintenance Engineering, an MBA in Management of Technology, and a BSc in Production Engineering. Industrial Engineer/ South Asia Operations AnalystAvery Dennison Jun 2006 - Jun 2010Sri Lanka• I was responsible for implementing the Enterprise LeanSigma (ELS) Best Practices Standards as per the corporate Operational Excellence program, during the time of the new plant acquisitions in Sri Lanka. • Collaborating with senior Lean experts from USA, UK, Norway, and Hong Kong, I facilitated Avery Dennison South Asia region for MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement), A3 / DMAIC Problem Solving, and Kaizen.• I developed KPIs and production incentive systems and facilitated their deployment in the South Asia region. • I developed an optimal production batching solution to meet 12% material savings; the solution is still used. • I redesigned the plant layout with a focus on Lean Inventory to accommodate 15% more production capacity. • I facilitated the setup-time reduction projects in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh plants to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness up to 30%. • I was also responsible for assisting the South Asia operational leadership for strategic projects such as operations savings, footprint optimization, technology upgrades, and business continuity planning.

Productivity ManagerProductivity Improvement Program, Joint Apparel Association Forum (Jaaf) Jun 2004 - May 2006Sri Lanka• Under the supervision of three Senior Lean Consultants from the UK and Canada, I was one of the twelve Engineers who consulted the client factories to initiate Lean transformations to improve Operational Excellence and business competitiveness during the time of entrance to quota-free global market. • I benchmarked the financial and manufacturing capabilities of three client factories, assisted to develop Lean transformation roadmaps, redesigned conventional assembly lines to modular layouts, and reengineered manual work to improve efficiency by 10- 50%. • I developed a software to simulate different production methods (Fixed line, Skill Centres, Queue Processing, Modular teams), and a Pocket PC software to conduct time studies and follow-up studies. My software were heavily used as Industrial Engineering and Training tools during the Productivity Improvement Project.

Research EngineerUniversity Of Peradeniya Feb 2003 - May 2004Peradeniya• I set up a lab to conduct ergonomics experiments in collaboration with the Sri Lankan apparel industry to improve work postures of work cells, during the early stages of Lean transformation in the appeal sector. • I with another researcher conducted a study on the psychological effects of assembly production lines. The results were useful in redesigning assembly lines with an improved focus on work enlargement and work engagement. The results were presented in an International Productivity Conference in Oulu, Finland.
