The Central Electricity Authority of India (CEA) is a statutory organisation constituted under section 3(1) of Electricity Supply Act 1948, which has been superseded by section 70(1) of the Electricity Act 2003. The CEA advises the government on matters relating to the National Electricity Policy and formulates short-term and perspective plans for the development of electricity systems.By the act mentioned above, responsibility has been vested on CentralElectricity Authority to collect & record the data concerning the generation of powerand carryout studies related to efficiency and such like matters and also make publicfrom time to time information secured under this Act and to provide for the publicationof reports and investigation. Therefore, in OPM Div. of GO&D wing of CEA, I am monitoring the generation/outages of around 460 stations(consisting of 1700 units) on daily/monthly/annual basis.We have brought out various reports on daily generation/outages, monthlygeneration, Plant Load Factor etc. All these reports are prepared on the basis ofinformation furnished by various stations / utilities on daily, monthly andyearly basis in a time bound manner.We have already issueduser id and password to utilities/stations for submitting online data to eachand every station.I am also a part of the review process that covers the performance analysis of 570 coal / lignite based thermal units (25 MW & above capacity) of 184 thermal power stations
