As a summer intern, I was given a project to study the Oxygen Lance System under able guidance of Mr. Suman Mandyal(Senior Manager) of LD3 Mechanical Department. While doing in-depth analysis of system,I got to know that a machine Slag Retaining Device was inefficient,thus it wasn't used by Tata Steel.Mr. Rohit Mishra(Sr. Manager) LD3 Metallurgy Department provided me with the opportunity of pursuing two projects in an internship from Tata Steel for improving the efficiency of system which was later on incorporated into manufacturing process.Working on the given project, I delved into pool of knowledge which was not yet explored by me. Tata Steel, being a giant in steel manufacturing, quality management and safety values are given high preference, thus internship enhanced by expertise in these fields.

It was my first exposure to a manufacturing company, where I got a project on Value Stream Mapping and Overall Equipment Effectiveness(OEE) of a Production line under Mr. Ankush Joggi(Senior Manager) , Materials Department. I was handed over the project because of lay backs in the production line. I was expected to find out a solution whether a machine is faulty or issues laid with line design.Initially I learned the technical aspects of engines which included production, assembly and testing. Having understood the technological aspects,I got to know that a specific machine was not working as per the line standards and thus,needed to be replaced with two modern machines running in parallel.Furthermore, I suggested to incorporate many bench-marked tests to be executed before the production line for the cast part.
