Digital Tv Labs Automation/Broadcast Engineer
Automation engineer for Digital TV labs (DTV).In my role as automation engineer I automated day to day broadcast engineering tasks to improve efficiency. Among these improvements where:IP provisioning tool that allowed broadcast engineers to IP provision set-top boxes for lab users in an efficient way.Subscriber management system which allowed lab users to send messages to systems that deal with the encryption of video content. This put control into the hands of the testers and freeing those of the broadcast engineers which resulted in a quicker test environment setup and therefore an increase of executed test cases per test cycle. Next to that I developed applications that extended the range of test that can be done with the broadcast headends. Among these where:Data generator which generates TV guide test data for more than 350 test channels. The data generator gave control over the data available for test resulting in an increase off the types of test that could be done. The generated data also enabled offshore labs and development teams to run test that they were not able to do before.Radio event information distribution system which captured radio test data from a 3th party and distributed it to all the broadcast headends in the liberty global labs. As a result radio test could be executed in multiple labs.Broadcast engineer for Digital TV labs (DTV).In my role as broadcast engineer I was responsible for maintaining and configuring digital TV headends in the Liberty Global digital TV laboratories. By configuring digital headends I enabled testers to do regression test in a efficient manner thereby shortening the test cycle. I also configured the digital headends for other types of test e.g. to investigate bugs that were detected in the field which lead to a quick resolution of those issues.
